he was hatched in a nest
just like all the rest
under a pale autumn sky
Jeremy was a blackbird
but he didn't feel like one
his brothers, they grew
and they flopped, fell and flew
but Jeremy wanted to run
Jeremy was a blackbird
and he wished it wasn't so
so he sat and he dreamed
and he grinned and he beamed
and imagined how fast he could go
Jeremy was a blackbird
but he didn't want to be
so he decided to act
he upped and he packed
and he climbed, not flew, down the tree
